Architectural Models

Humans have asked questions about the meaning of our lives since the beginning of time. Religious architecture expresses our answers to these questions through the universal language of color, form, place, and light.

While religions and organizational structures articulate the cultural bodies of faith and define their relationship to the world, structures like the pyramids of ancient Egypt, the temples at Teotihuacan in Mexico and Gothic churches are a tangible architectural expression of the yearnings and desires of the human spirit.

The Center for Religious Architecture plans to build scale models of religious structures from around the world, throughout time, and from all faiths.

We plan to bring these models to you, so we can view them together and deepen our understanding of how each answer is valid in its own way, from its own point of view, as an expression of its originating culture .

We are seeking examples of exemplary religious architecture which, through their design, empower the transformative spiritual process that occurs when a group of individuals is joined by spirit into a community.

Religious architecture can be nominated for modeling through our website. We are a still exploring the best materials for the models. We are seeking donor/sponsors for all models.

After a model is constructed it is added to the collection of The Center with the donor name identified on the model base.

The model is used for educational purposes to explain how faith is expressed through architecture. The website lists all presentations and exhibitions in which the model is shown.
